Investment in Energy Efficient Motors
Marubeni Europe’s Investment and Development Group has made an investment in Synchropulse Limited, an early stage technology company which has patented designs for energy efficient motors. Marubeni Europe is a 12.5% shareholder in Synchropulse, and has invested alongside Life-IC, a UK-based early stage clean energy accelerator.
Synchropulse motors use much less energy than conventional motors for a given load, and can be controlled so as to only deliver the exact amount of power required at any particular time. Applications include high run time, variable speed processes such as ventilation, refrigeration and air-conditioning. The Synchropulse technology can make a significant contribution to climate change by reducing energy use for these kinds of processes by up to 87%.
Synchropulse is currently manufacturing the motors in the UK as prototypes and receiving inquiries for volume orders. Marubeni, utilising its global network and knowledge of industry, is investigating opportunities to market and sell these motors in key markets in Asia.
